So Soon But Goodbye and Hello in Time

It was past 11 pm last night of October 11, 2009 when I was really lazy to do some important things. So, I then opt to view some of my stocked photos in my laptop looking for snap shots to replace my banner. As I passed by the folder where I kept my SPED days, without any single thought, I suddenly searched for the screen shot that I made when I was still chatting with a friend months ago. The photo was taken when he was at the hospital during his therapy sessions when he let me viewed his webcam. That was the last time when I saw him online. Because I last saw him personally during the first quarters of the year if I'm not mistaken.

It was around 1:00 am when Vonn sent me a message over ym informing me that one of our friends just passed away around 11:00 pm. Poof, GOOSEBUMPS to the max! Because he was pertaining to the person who I looked for in my folders. It was obviously dark, the room was quite cold because of the AC and the laptop was the only thing that was giving me light. Upon receiving the grave news from Vonn, I know it was not just plain goose bumps. Because I am a person who can stand cold temperature without getting goose bumps. The only part of my body that gets cold is my feet. Was that coincidence? Why would I bother looking for his photos when I felt so lazy last night? I know there’s a reason why I gave effort in looking for his photo. I am a person who doesn’t feel all those “paramdam” from people who die even when my grandmother passed away. There's always a first time, the first time that I felt a bit scared. It was indeed an unusual experience for me.

So this morning, October 12, yes it’s confirmed from his brother. He really did passed away 11 pm. He will be home back here in Naga tomorrow morning. I then hurriedly informed some of my friends who also knew Aboi. I got to know Aboi personally when I took my Sped units in Ateneo. Surprisingly, he was already a friend of mine under his nickname like Mosquiton and because he was one of the Dy4-Clan when I was still in HS and early college years. IRC days really gave me a lot of friends who are still with me up to the present and Aboi was one of them. He wasn’t just a chatmate, he wasn’t just a classmate in sped, he was like my protector,. He protects me from my weaknesses by giving me encouragements to face them. I will surely treasure those meek words that you gave me.

I will miss our chitchats especially when he teases me a lot because he knew one secret of mine that only a few knows. I know you will still keep it as a secret aboi. We shared photos in flickr and talk about what was recently happening in my life. Now, he is with the Lord. No more sufferings, no more cancer, no more pain. It’s time for you to live your life with Him. Cancer chooses no one, cancer chooses no age, Aboi will always be an icon of great courage fighting against Cancer. I will surely miss you my dear friend. You left So Soon, but we had to say Goodbye because we know you’re ready. In time we’ll say Hello once again. >:D<

In Memory of Francis Magalona

At around 4pm this afternoon, I was wondering as to why was Ok (a radio station) was playing all Francis' M's songs. Even though I was inquisitive, but I didn't bother asking the people around me if they know why his songs are being played continuously.. why? everybody in our office was so pre-occupied about the forthcoming accreditation on Monday and Tuesday.

Click here for the complete details about his death on PDI. Here's the video taken from Eat Bulaga, when Vic Sotto was breaking the news to the public that Francis M was taken by the Lord at 12 noon. --> http://www.igma.tv/video/6979/Eat-Bulaga-A-Moment-of-Silence-for-Kiko

His last three pics in his blog site looks so light and happy. But behind the smiling face was his tough fight against cancer. He fought it well and he was not alone. He is one brave soul that teaches everyone how to live with high hopes and with God's loving grace. As I was browsing his multiply account, something captured me.. he is also a photo hobbyist, a good and alluring photographer in his own light. Back in our elementary days, I can never forget his song that says "mga kababayan ko..." then came "kaleidoscope" which is one of my all time favorites.

He is a brave, patriotic soul that serves not only a music icon in the Pinoy industry but a genuine heart that touches all ages.

Condolences to the bereaved family of Francis M. Prayers to all brave people fighting agains cancer!

CANcer

What the hell are we going to eat now?

Is everything on our dining tables safe to eat or drink? Weeks and months ago we had this issue about China-made toys which contained lead. Now we have the melamine scare which is brought about by China again. For Buddha’s sake! Poor China… they have been famous in just a blink of an eye but as an eye-sore, a negative image for them as I must say. What is it like to live in China if what they produce, toys or food it may be are unsafe to consume or use? Of course, we have to ask people from China themselves in order to see and hear their side. Are you guys alright there? I will not be surprised if few months from now, there will be another news that another product can cause Cancer. Duhhh

From the very rare and common illnesses, we have this very famous CANCER today. Again, everything that we consume is more or less linked to CANCER very often. From the very word itself, Cancer.. for me it means.. “We are NOT CANCER FREE, but we CAN be CERtified with it. Why? (Well, let us not be biased that China itself or China-made products are cancerous, let us not discriminate them, after all we are all victims of our reality).

From the very bottle of water, sodas that we drink and chunky chips that we munch in school or work place…

From the French fries, big burgers and chickens that we savour with our discount coupons in fast food chains…

From the appetizers, taste enhancers, and artificial spices that we deposit in the food that we cook in our kitchens…

From the cosmetics, conditioners and shampoos that can contain sodium laureth sulphate to make people feel and look better…

From all these froms can we still say that we are Cancer Free? Nahhhh It’s all around us!
What option do we have? Go back to basics? Natural and organic food? Sure! Why not?? But the question is, can we do it? Our generation got used to everything we call “instant” and “fast”, because we are so preoccupied with a lot of stuffs and activities. People got no more time to plant in their backyards (but I guess there are no backyards nowadays for those living in urban cities) and people gets so lethargic to cook in their own kitchens.

Besides that we are into the so-called unhealthy lifestyle, we also have this unhelpful attitude to be better and healthy. Who doesn’t want to eat what everybody else eat, right? While the rest is enjoying, why deprive ourselves eat the luscious and yummy snacks that our food services offer?

After all what’s said and done, yes we have to be careful of what we eat if we want to live longer. If we can’t avoid or completely stop eating unhealthy foods, then MINIMIZE them.. with capital M.I.N.I.M.I.Z.E
